  • What is SPARK?

SPARK is the name of a study tour headed to Russia and South Korea, organized by the study association Thor of Electrical Engineering and Automotive at Eindhoven, University of Technology.

 

  • What does SPARK mean?

SPARK is an acronym for Students Pursuing Amazement in Russia and Korea. This reflects the purpose of the trip, which is to amaze the students of Eindhoven with technology and the beauty and contrasts in culture of the two countries. 

 

  • What is Thor?

The e.t.s.v. Thor is the study association of the department of Electrical Engineering at Eindhoven, University of Technology. Thor was founded in 1957, in the same year as the university itself. Thor organizes activities that bring students in direct contact with the engineering industry. In this capacity, Thor regularly organizes study tours to give the students an insight into the international electrical engineering and automotive industry. The most recent study trip was organised in 2014. This trip was called Prosperando and was headed to Brazil. In 2011 there was a successful trip to Japan, in 2009 to China and past study tours have included destinations such as Scandinavia, the Czech Republic and South Africa.

 

  • What is the IEEE SBE?

Meet IEEE student branch Eindhoven, a local dependency of the world’s largest technical professional organization. As one of the largest student branches in the world, we participate in IEEE events such as global (programming) competitions and (student) conferences. Next to that, we also have our own local activities like workshops and lectures from peer-nominated professionals, symposia and study trips. And of course, we relax from time to time with a drink or dinner. We also have a large group of active Women in Engineering, the WIE.

  • When will this study tour take place?

The SPARK Study Tour will take place in July and August of 2017. We will depart on the 11th of July, and return in Eindhoven on August the 6th.

 

  • Who will participate in the study tour?

The study tour is meant for bachelor and master students of Electrical Engineering or Automotive that are member of study association Thor. The participating students are all second-years or higher. 31 people will participate, including seven members of the organizing committee and two employees from the department of Electrical Engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology.

 

  • How can my company be part of the SPARK Study Tour?

You can support us either by becoming a sponsor or by providing us with a case study. To help fund our project, we let participants work on case studies provided by companies before the tour takes place. Also, we are looking for companies that will receive us on a technical excursion in Russia or South Korea. For more information about sponsor options, please contact us.
